Many clients ask “What is a maildrop?” Basically, it’s a mail forwarding service. In other words, an address either in the person’s own country or elsewhere which allows someone to use the address to discreetly receive mail and then have it forwarded to an address where they are actually located. Sometimes it's in the same country or even the same town, other times it can be located in another country or continent and the location will depends on what you seek to achieve. The way it works is that mail is sent to the maildrop and is then forwarded unopened in an envelope to its final destination. Some maildrops also offer a service where they will open and scan or fax the mail. The key when setting up confidential offshore services is to remember that, provided what you are doing is not blatantly illegal, there are never going to be any problems with the authorities. No maildrop, internet or communications company is going to want to get indirectly involved in scams or other crimes involving their clients.
